Wavexa broadband planning tool

How much broadband speed do you really need?

Build a realistic picture of what your household does at the same time. Wavexa will estimate a sensible download range, an upload target and whether your current package or latest measured result looks suitable on paper.

Planning estimate, not an ISP guarantee. Real-world needs vary by service, device, video quality and how many activities happen at once. Gaming needs good latency as well as speed.

Start with the people and devices likely to share the connection.

Compare your current service

Optional. Add the package speed you pay for, or use your latest Wavexa Speed Test result if one exists on this device.

How to use the answer

A faster package is not always the fix.

1

If your package is below the range

Your household may simply need more shared capacity at busy times. Check what speeds are actually available at your address before changing.

2

If the package is high enough but rooms are slow

The limiting factor may be WiFi coverage, interference, device capability or the internal network rather than the broadband package.

3

If gaming is the priority

Do not chase Mbps alone. Ping, jitter, packet loss and a stable wired or well-designed WiFi connection can matter more once basic bandwidth is sufficient.

4

If uploads are important

Check the upload speed separately. Many UK packages provide far less upload than download, which matters for cloud backups, video calls and content uploads.

Know what you need. Now measure what you get.

Run the Wavexa Speed Test next.

Use the calculator target as context, then measure download, upload, ping and jitter on the device you actually use.
